| If you need a dedicated server exclusively for your
use and you cannot provide one to co-locate in our
datacenter, then our dedicated server hosting packages
are the solution. Dedicated servers can be used for
your company website, email or database. Or you can use
it to resell web space which is a common use for
dedicated servers. As long as it is not illegal, you can
use the dedicated server for what ever you choose.
To keep costs low, our servers are basic entry level
servers which are..
- 2.4 GHz P4 processor.
- 512mb Memory.
- 73GB SCSI Hard Drive. * See note
below.
- NO MONTHLY TRANSFER LIMITS. **
See note below.
Our basic servers are $150 per month. If you require
changes in the hardware of the server, the price will be
slightly higher.
Servers can be built with Zeon processors, more
memory, or additional hard drive space if it should be
needed.
Servers are on battery backup, and emergency
generators to protect them from power outages.
Dedicated servers are not fire walled. Therefore you
as the servers administrator will either have to install
a software based firewall on the server, or if your
worried about the impact a software based firewall will
have on the performance of the server, we can install a
hardware firewall at an additional monthly cost.
You may choose the operating system installed on the
server. Normally we provide either Red Hat Linux 9. Or
Windows 2000.
Other Linux OS's or Windows 2003 can be installed
instead if required. This will increase deployment time
as we will need time to obtain the operating system you
require. We only stock the first two mentioned.
We do not use Plesk for remote administration that
many other hosting companies use. For Linux we install
Webmin which will
be used to administer the Linux servers. For Windows
servers we install
Symantec PcAnywhere. You will need a copy of
PcAnywhere to access the windows machines.
1 IP address is assigned to the server. More are
available upon request for an additional $3.00 per month
for each IP address required.
* Many hosting providers will use IDE hard drives in
servers provided for customer use. All IDE hard drives
are consumer level drives that are not intended for
server use. Failure rate on IDE drives is vary high when
used in a server. For this reason we use SCSI drives in
all of our servers. This significantly reduces the
chance of hard drive failure, and the downtime and
possible data loss as a result of it.
** We monitor bandwidth the server uses, not total
bytes used, but rather it's data rate. Thus there is no
monthly charge for additional bandwidth used if you go
over a certain amount like other hosting companies do
because we do not track that. However, speed is limited.
There can be several servers sharing a single T1 in
which we monitor the servers average bandwidth
requirements. If a server requires more bandwidth than
what it is getting on the T1 we placed it on, we will
switch it to another that has more bandwidth available.
However, no server will be allowed to exceed a T1 for
bandwidth usage.
